I have a resume for a family member who is a software developer and we would really like/appreciate someone who is a headhunter for that type of thing to take a look at it.

One thing we’re not sure of is how to limit it geographically.

My email is in my profile.

You might want to remove your email address from your post. It's in your profile, any SIGforum member who is logged in can see it there.

Putting it in your post, allows anybody who cruises this website to see it. It might turn into a spam magnet.

While I’m not a headhunter, I was a Distribution Center Manager and Operations Tech Specialist (Operations IT Manager).

I would be happy to look at it and give some feedback, whatever it may be worth.

I can't help with your original request but I know if the person you are trying to help out puts all their info on Linked In and set the flag for open for new opportunities the head hunters will come to you.

I know of some SW positions available in Colorado if that would work.

I am in IT and get 50 calls and emails a week.

Having a good LinkedIn profile is essential.

I put my resume on these sites:

1. LinkedIn

2. Dice.com

3. Indeed

4. Zip Recruiter

5. Career builder

Put in the job title and see what style other people are using.

The important thing is Keywords.

All the headhunters use keyword searches.

I automatically get reports on how may searches I appeared in and how many times my resume was downloaded.

They don't care where you live they will try to get you to relocate.

Unless it is something esoteric, the headhunters are on commission and most cold callers are not in the US.

If they hit a mutual match, you get turned over to a local recruiter. Who may or may not be in the US.

I am doing contract consulting and all my jobs in the last 5 years came this way.

Neva, the IT unemployment rate for IT in many areas is below zero. Mine especially. I'm not a head hunter but I do have a bunch of contacts in many parts of the country and I do hire software engineers. Could you email the resume?

Neva,

Have him create a profile on LinkedIn. Then attach the resume to the profile. I have gotten more job leads due to LinkedIn than any other web group. Head hunters and companies have been reaching out to me based upon my LinkedIn profile.

LinkedIn helped me get my current job and can be a very useful tool when job hunting.

Best regards,

Mike
