I'm not sure that servicing a modern vehicle can be considered an actual tune up. We service many vintage Porsche cars that get a tune up. It often involves adjusting fuel and ignition systems. Seems to me, with a modern car, it's just scheduled maintenance or repair/replacement of something malfunctioning, often the cause is lack of maintenance. I do the maintenance on my newer vehicles as the manufacturer recommends. Seem to be working so far.

Here is a shot of the Spark Plugs and boots I just pulled from a 2016 Ford Expedition EL 3.5L Twin Turbo. I try to do everything at about half the intervals the manufacturer calls for. Ford calls for 100k. I had a slight miss. Factory gap .032 all had expanded out quite a bit and were pretty carbon covered though that is somewhat normal with a GDI Turbo motor. There was no issue getting them out and the boots don't seem to out of whack. Biggest concern is the gap expansion. I certainly would not have wanted them in there another 50k miles. ![]() ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!
