Luckily not for me

A friend of my wife is in a bad place and we are trying to help, I have already told that her and the kids can stay with us but she will need a good attorney here soon as she is finally coming to terms with the fact that she needs to leave the asshole she is with.

She really does not or will not once she starts this path have a pot let alone the window so if anyone knows of non-profits that assist single mothers I would really appreciate links or contacts.

This will be in Collin County if that matters at all.

Sydney Robison in McKinney helped me but she isn’t cheap. I don’t know if she works with clients on cost or not.

No help, but please be careful. There are many examples of this turning out very bad for people in you and your wife's position. Do not think it could not happen to you. You do not know half of what is going on. Be very cautious, please.

I'd listen to the attorneys here like jhe888 for the legal part and other that, just be careful yourself.
I've seen too many people with good intentions get hosed in a shit show like this can be.
Remember, no good deed goes unpunished. People do all sorts of crazy stuff when emotions are involved.

Divorce is expensive but its worth it.

If she doesn't have any net worth then the main thing is to get all the details worked out regarding custody and financial responsibilities regarding the children.
