Is throttling back up when doing a go around not the normal procedure in most airplanes? One of my Dad's close calls involved a go around, he said full throttle, pull back on the stick, and start retracting the flaps as you climb out. He was having trouble climbing when my mom, from the back seat of the Varga, pointed out the flaps were still down. I've heard the story a hundred times. The kicker was there was a bridge over a river involved that he thought he might have to go under instead of over.

They do not land on carrier or runway at full throttle. They land near idle (working throttles as needed for maintaining glidepath) and on carrier when they make contact with the deck, they advance throttles in case they miss the wire(s). When landing on a runway, they do not advance the throttles unless they are doing touch and go. (exception; If practicing carrier landings on a runway set up for that specific training, and taking the wire, they fly the "carrier" profile.) That’s exactly what I meant. Maybe my wording was bad… What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
