Truth be known, I've NEVER had a cup of coffee I couldn't drink hot or cold, Navy mess decks or Mr. Coffee. Even Maxwell house over-brewed super strong "mud" coffee my non-coffee drinking brother makes when I visit (i just add a little water). That said, I prefer the cup produced by Technivorn Moccamaster everyday in my own kitchen ... hands down. Enjoy your Mr. Coffee

... heck, maybe you should start a thread about it if you like it so much. Don't be a wine-r LOL

I typically roll out of bed around the crack of 9:00 am, so it's been ready long before I have to worry about it. Momma gets up early and she wants it ready to pour....while your explanation is perfectly logical to me....well, yeah.....not the hill I am wanting to die on

HobbsCan't you buy one of those timer thingies and plug the coffee maker into if you wake at a specific time and want brewed coffee first thing?

P210They make great coffee and they’re well made. I have then in both homes and my kids have them in theirs. Just choose the model carefully because you’re going to have it forever.

TMatsWanting to go ahead and purchase one of these coffee makers today. Technivorm calls it a “10 cup coffee maker,” but also says “40 oz. capacity.” When did a cup become just 4 ounces?
My wife and I only drink coffee in the morning, but we will each drink roughly 3 1/2 cups each, and I put that at 56 ounces of coffee. We’re kinda going back-and-forth on whether or not we need to buy the Grand Moccamaster, which they claim is for “small offices” and “parties.”

They're European (hand made in the Netherlands) and the European coffee cup is 4 ounces.

FloydNChad one couple years ago purchased from Amazon, ok but seemed overhyped to me. I switched to pour over and ended up selling the Technivorm. I've tried every method around and prob 7 or 8 brands of brewers and stopped looking/experimenting after going the pour over route

Yeah, well my Mr. Coffee claims to be a 12 cup model (though it seems close to overflowing and has to be poured very slowly and carefully to avoid spillage when I fill it to ten) and I am not sure that they aren't four ounce cups too, as ten cups on the pot translates into about three and a half fills of my normal sized coffee cup.

The drip tube is a major complaint and multiple folks say grounds not evenly wet.
Anyone with real experience?

I experienced this as well; replaced paper filters wit a gold filter and found that the grounds present a tighter target for the spout. No more issues.
To add - For what it's worth...in the coffee world, "one cup" = 6-8 oz.
The accepted standard for beans is 1 TBSP per 6oz of water.

OKCGeneCome to think of it.... I don't really like my Baratza Encore grinder. I'm going to replace with a Virtuoso.
I have a nearby grocery store that sells a lot of coffee beans, they have a very good selection, I think.
I go in every week and buy freshly roasted beans and usually try a different variety bean. This gives me fresh but not too fresh varieties to try out, I'm not buying pounds at a time. I use their grinder while there. Works pretty well. It's been good to try a big variety. I've grown quite fond of their Italian Roast beans but I enjoy trying all the other kinds.
