O'Reilly uses Bosch scanners, and yes, they will check and clear them for free. Their scanners cannot see the status of the ready/not ready codes used for the emissions test. I've made the repairs, and I'm trying to wait for the system to reset before bringing the car to be tested.

There is a lot of traffic and construction in my area, so accomplishing a complete drive cycle is complicated.

I discovered yesterday the simple scanner I have has a function for ready/not ready, but since I replaced the EVAP parts, now EVAP, EGR, and CAT are all not ready.

I do not know if this is a normal function of the systems of the car, or if the scanner I'm using is not good enough to do what I need.

There were/are no codes detected for EGR and CAT. I think they are not ready because the system needs a full drive cycle. Hopefully not 5 complete drive cycles.

Works great for reading codes and resetting a CEL but not sure about using it to monitor possible problems. There is a better model for $10 more, 45 vs 35; has an updated display and more functions.

lol I have one of those, I leave it under the seat. My sister, who knows nothing about cars, just bought one to reset her CAT light twice a year, rather than take it to the dealer.

I just wish the screen was bigger or my eyes better. Big Grin
