We are all waiting for the Wyoming Dept. of Transportation and the Wyoming Highway Patrol to decide who and how they are going to clear off multiple mud and rock slides that have blocked the highway. I’m at the very last slide that is just outside of Alpine twiddling my thumbs waiting for them to figure out what to do. I imagine a local farmer and/or contractor could have plowed our blockage in about 30 minutes. But that would have been too easy. The local deputy seems frustrated too as Wyoming Highway Patrol are in charge. At least I have the internet, Mrs. BB61 is sleeping and Miss BB61 is reading. Food, water, blankets, sleeping blankets are a check but I, like an idiot, decided not to fill up on the way out of Jackson to save a few pennies so the motor is off to conserve fuel at least we aren’t cold. But still, I knew better. Mad

No. The local deputy told me they have to clean off the road in multiple areas behind us. So we are stuck.

I should add everyone is calm and nobody is giving LEO a bad time. The truck in front of us knows the local deputy and he is hanging out there so we get pretty good updates.

A snowplow from Jackson just drove by and is at the slide now. The deputy had just told us WDOT had contracted with someone from Thayne to clear everything off so I’m glad to see the snowplow at this point as Thayne is about 20 minutes away and counting loading and traveling time he and I were guessing we would be waiting an hour before they showed up.

Since you’re bored and sitting, I’ll share a sitting story with you.
I had been at a logistics conference all week. Friday night a few of us went to the club at the hotel. (Hotel was Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego).

One if the vendors starts buying us drinks, then another vendor, and so on. Later in the evening, one vendor that owns a large trucking company, Gary, gets a bunch of us bottle service and we end up in a private seating area with nice couches and a couple of pretty ladies that bartender just for our group. The drinks they made went down like water.
Fast forward to closing time. We all head to Gary’s suite and continue to drink. It’s now 4 am. I have to be at the airport by 7.
Make it to the airport, sleep in the flight home and wake up with a hangover.
Wife picks me up. Trying to hide that I’m hungover and still drunk from the night before, we get stuck on I-5 from Seattle to Olympia. Fatality accident that closed the freeway for a few hours. My wife hates AC. It was about 85 degrees outside. I thought I was dying.
Anyways, that’s my sitting on the freeway story.
Sounds like yours is a more enjoyable time.

For sure. As far as we know, nobody was hurt. They are moving the cars at the front so they have room to maneuver. We are talking about getting a hotel for the rest of the night — if we can find one.

We're back to the cabin. It took Wyoming DOT a little over 3 hours to get a one-way path cleaned. A different deputy told me they will have to work on the deeper side in the light with heavy equipment. I'll post a picture or two later today
