Especially if you have a condition like diabetes. If you don't put forth some effort you'll end up like my wife's uncle: bloated, unable to breathe, covered in sores that won't heal and you'll leave behind kids with a mom that shouldn't be left alone with a damn ant farm. Fortunately both boys are in their early 20s. Unfortunately I'm not sure they're equipped to deal with this or their dirtbag mother. And update your will so a vampiric ex won't get half your estate!

It's amazing how many people don't take the necessary steps to avoid exacerbating a health condition once it's been diagnosed. I know it seems easier to just keep on living the way that you are currently living rather than making a few lifestyle changes. However, the consequences down the road make life so much harder. I'm proud of the fact that my dad has finally (at 60 years of age) gotten back into taking care of himself. Since I moved out 6 months ago, he has lost about 40 pounds and looks a lot healthier. Now I just need to get my ass in gear as well.

As we age, we SHOULD get smarter....some do, some don't!! To me, nothing is more important than my health. The guns, cars, etc. is just STUFF......if you get sick, you can't enjoy anything. As far as I know, we only go around once, and I am still having fun, and plan to continue for some time(I hope).

Buried a friend last weekend with similar issues. We were diagnosed the same week 21 years ago. I should say we buried most of him. Quite a bit had already been removed a piece at a time.
