Don't Panic |
If they are going to be traveling, you might not want to give them a multiple bottles to lug along, depending on how they are traveling. For an event-gift, like a milestone anniversary or birthday, I'd suggest one memorable, carefully selected item, anyway. First task is to narrow the choices. Are they connoisseurs, or casual drinkers? Do you know what they like? That would help the selection. Next decision is do you want to give something that they might keep around for a while, to remind them of the milestone. There are plenty of choices that might improve for years, properly stored. That approach lets them keep thinking of the event and maybe celebrate again on a later milestone. Armed with those bits - 1) what do they like, 2) cellar/drink now, and 3) your price range, you can do some research or just go to a good wine store and get their advice.

Perrier Jouet Champagnes are great "celebration" wines. They are good quality and have lovely packaging that can be very festive.

I am not sure what kind of wines they might drink, as we never really talked about it or drank together,(I don't drink). They are traveling only a few hours away by car and I just want to give them a big thanks. We met as their daughter and ours are great friends. My wife and this lady first met as our daughters were studying together and the two of them (my wife and this girl's mother),hit it off right away. We have only known them for about 6-7 months but they are as nice, honest and as sincere as you can be. They traveled a bit to see my daughter in the hospital as well recently. I think I am going to get the bottle of Dom after reconsidering it as they are good people and you only turn 50 once. Of course that is unless you are a woman and they never age past 35, . Thanks to all.
