This is printed on an envelope from the Social Security Administration. Just a plain old piece of almost junk mail from them.

'splain this to me.

How would one go about using this, uh, envelope, I guess, for "private use"? Just how would that work? Scratch out "Social Security Administration" and re-use the envelope? Confused

And why only a 300 dollar fine? I'll bet no one has ever been fined for whatever it is they're concerned someone might do.

Any clues?

That is meant for the employees.
So they don’t take a stack of envelopes home and send out their personal mail.

There is a reason it is on there and it is on a lot of the Alphabet agency envelopes.

I see. The free postage. I should have known.

But, uh, wouldn't theft be a firing offense? Roll Eyes

I like the "Private Property" signs on row houses in the ghetto. Oh really? I thought this was a post office or public library. And the "No Trespassing" signs. Where is trespassing ok?

No knowledge is ever useless.

It's still only $300? With the inflation over time you'd think it would be a lot more now.

Well, if it's 300 bucks per instance, it could add up to a lot if money. A hundred envelopes would be 30,000 bucks.

Trespassing isn't trespassing until you are told you are doing so by someone who has responsibility for a property. Even then, it isn't going to be enforced unless LE shows up and makes it clear that leaving/getting off the property is one's wisest option.

I suspect the validity of a NT sign as far as sufficient notice goes, varies by jurisdiction. There are probably other provisions that are activated by the presence of a sign (like without it, you cannot pepper a trespasser's butt with rock salt!)

Lots of things that would be a firing offense in the corporate world are not in the government, hell a bunch of them get people promoted.

Not true in many places. There is no requirement to be told that you have to leave. Now, many instances like a business or places generally open to the public where it is not uncommon for people to normally be. Yes, the notification generally needs to be made.

However many places like apartment complexes and private property where the general public is not allowed there is no requirement to be warned about trespassing.

The reason for the signage in many places is because it is a statute enhancement.
For instance here Criminal Trespass 3rd is a simple violation here on the same level as a traffic citation, Criminal Trespass 2nd is a misdemeanor.

Not on lands in Colorado. It's the responsibility of the intruder to know where he's permitted to be. It may be unlikely that any enforcement action would be taken against someone for unknowingly entering onto someone's property unless they refuse to leave or do something like take wood without permission, but that's the law (or was the last time I checked).

They should encourage that. That could result in them making a profit.
