Gun Laws & Facts...Left vs. Right
My daughter goes to a STEM high school and is writing a paper that is Pro Gun, but has not selected her exact topic. I told her I would ping you all to ask for any web sites, resources, etc. that she may want to hit up. I've already given her quite a few, but she is in information gathering mode so the more the better.

FYI...there are a lot of liberals in her school, especially the administration so she's fighting an uphill battle to begin with. It is truly sad considering where we live.

You probably figured this out but the NRA webpage is a good start. Google is your friend, just google gun organizations in America. I came up with a bunch in less time than it took to write this.

What the statistics on gun violence/gun control actually say, as opposed to what people claim they say. Trying to think of a tie in to STEM rather than politics or pure policy.

I'd suggest she begin with, or include a simple primmer on simple nomenclature. By enlightening the uninformed it is easier to keep on topic with facts and logic, I think.

Your states AG web page will have your specific gun laws. If you mean to drill down to local laws, you can learn more at County Sheriff page as well.

How about a paper that states the frequent misconceptions or lies that the left believe, then document the truth?

IE numbers of deaths - suicides, homicides, auto deaths, drug deaths, gang killings, swimming drownings, etc.

Numbers study giving some idea of homicides vs. other deaths? Are we addressing a real problem or would our money be better spent on a bigger issue?

She can get real stats on all sorts of causes of death from the CDC.

Since we had a nationwide AWB for a decade there were numerous studies showing it had zero impact on crime. The FBI Uniform Crime Reports and the National Crime Victimization Survey are other good sources.

Here are some 2017 CDC death stats:

heart disease 647,457
accidents 169,936
-motor vehicle 40,231
-falls 36,338
...
-firearms 486

homicides by firearm (criminals actually Wink ) 14,542

Studies that have torn holes in the Gun Control argument and their 'solutions'

From the CDC: First Reports Evaluating the Effectiveness of Strategies for Preventing Violence: Firearms Laws

From Univ of Chicago: Preventive Medicine University of Chicago gun study August 2015

Opinion pieces that can help set the tone or, provide a focused climate as she works through her thesis
What gun control advocates don’t understand about gun owners

Author points out realities as a prosecutor: Jeffrey Scott Shapiro: A Gun Ban That Misfired What I saw as a prosecutor in Washington, D.C., makes me wary of strict firearms laws.

Good source of charts, figures and sources A factual look at GUNS in AMERICA

Joyce Lee Malcolm: Two Cautionary Tales of Gun Control After a school massacre, the U.K. banned handguns in 1998. A decade later, handgun crime had doubled.

Perception vs reality:

How the media sensationalizes mass shootings.

Lots of good statitiscal talk about the crazy ways you're More likely to die by.

Good points about how hammers and knives kill morenpeople than rifles each year.

The statistical manipulation where 'mass shootings' get the broadest definition possible where a husband killing his cheating , her boyfriend and himself or a criminal shooting at a couple police and then getting killed both count as mass shootings.

Or where 'school shooting' statistics include any dischargein a school zone. House next to school has a ND or someone commits suicide in the parking lot overnight are both school shootings.

A statistical look at the effectiveness of gun control measures would be a good paper.

There are a number of credible looks at the 1994 ban, like this one:

https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/173405.pdf

Also, looking at other attempts at gun control, like Canadas registry:

Marylands stupid fired case registry:

You don't have to look too far into statistics from the FBI and CDC to see that "gun violence" isn't a big problem. Relatively speaking. You can also find examples like the ones I've sited, that show the cost/benefit of "common sense" "gun control" measures.
