As many of you know we have been helping support our beautiful grandson Titus and our daughter since February 6th 2019 in his battle with stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer. He has actually beat cancer twice in that time and been NED (no evidence of disease). He is my hero, he is a fighter, and there is no question that he can't beat it on round three. They have been through so much and as a parent/grandparent, it breaks my heart to see them have to continue fighting.

The fight comes at a cost. Although Titus's health coverage is great for a catastrophic illness, there are many costs involved that aren't covered. When you are not working because there is no child care for someone with cancer or a 1 day visit to clinic for labs turns into 5 days because they find something in the bloodwork they don't like, little things like meals in the cafeteria, gas for multiple trips to the hospital, lots of extra diaper changes when the chemo makes him sick....... And on and on.

Anyhow, we, the grandparents, family, and friends have mostly covered it to this point and we have some fumes left in the tank. We have had outside help here and there, but now we are in uncharted territory. Titus's oncologist has a couple of plans that involve travel out of state. It will all depend on MIBG scans, biopsies, and deciphering the genetic DNA markers as to what is best. Looking at the possibility of Levine Children's Hospital in North carolina or Sloan Kettering in New york. There is also a far outside chance of Children's hospital in Seattle. These out of town trips for treatment (targeted immunotherapy, radiation, chemo and such) can be as little as a couple days or they can turn into a couple weeks. One time in summer 2019 he went in for a 5 day chemo treatment and didn't leave for 32 day because he kept running a fever and cough. My daughter and Son-in-law live in Virginia Beach and they have my newest grandson Seamus. Just over 2 months old. Of course with covid the hospitals only allow 1 caregiver at a time and sometimes limit it to any two but no others. Our plan is to build a sort of war chest if you will. The funds will be used for travel, lodging, meals, and ancillaries related to that. It's kind of that simple.

Boys and girls, we are not losing the battle, but no one ever said no to reinforcements or force multipliers. I'm not ashamed to ask for you support through prayer and donations. A kind word and gentle reminder that you're praying for Titus and his family or a donation, either one is fine because every little bit helps him in this fight.

Thank you,

Grandpa David

Have y'all inquired about St. Jude's Children Hospital in Memphis? My understanding is that they are one of the best in the world, and if a child is accepted for treatment there the family doesn't pay anything. I think they pay for housing for family, and even for food for a parent.

Anyone with a child with cancer should at least inquire about St. Jude's. I'm not trying to second guess anyone's treatment program. It's just that anytime I hear about a child with cancer, I have to recommend St. Jude's.

Grandpa David-

As a newly minted grandpa myself I cannot imagine the suffering you and your family have been through. My heartfelt prayers and donation are coming your way.
Cancer sucks but cancer in children is beyond horrible…

Nono.
