Black PepperGrip-on pliers are great pliers. In my opinion they are much better than Vise Grip brand and all the Vise Grip clones. They are pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I have yet to see a Vise Grip clone that is worth a damn. Even with a recently purchased
actual Vise Grip (small long nose), I had to peen the rivets to tighten the jaws up.

arcwelderI try to steer clear of any weird or single use tools. There is one though, that even if you only use it once, you'll be thrilled.
The Shoulder DollyVery heavy and bulky items can be moved easily, up and down stairs as well.

Where I work our delivery teams use something similar for appliances. A slight difference is ours are a harness they wear continuously. There is “buckle” that hooks the strap between them. They make fast work of heavy refrigerators with no floor damage.

WoodmanA Bodum french press pyrex insert was just the right height and volume for holding chicken stock overnight in the fridge while I wait for the fat to rise.
Large enough to get my hand in and clean it, non-porous for cleaning purposes, as narrow as the volume I wanted would allow. The perfect tool.
A cross-purpose cooking tool in the spirit of Alton Brown.

FN in MTMy Dad was a cabinet maker/carpenter. I grew up with a few caveats regarding tools.
Keep chisels and saws sharp. Use the proper tool for the job at hand. Put them BACK when done with them.
Few things drew wrath from the Old Man like NOT putting something BACK in it's box or spot on the wall. LOL.
Probably WHY I'm such a tool nut to this day.
