He definitely needs help ASAP! I'm worried that tomorrow at 1:00 may not be fast enough as an intestinal blockage could cause his intestines to burst before then. However, since you mentioned the cyst, and his sibling across the street having had the exact same thing happen, it gives me hope that it is not that serious!
I wish I had some money to offer you, but it sounds like the Scratch Pay will get you covered, as well as the generous folks here! Nothing is more important in my life than my kitties and their health/happiness, with the exception of my wife and daughter, so I get where you're coming from. Be sure to let us know how the vet visit goes! Oh, and I agree with the pill pocket suggestion; my kitties love the "Greenies" brand...

copaupI'm not a vet, but I've owned more than a few cats over the years. Cats are very prone to getting nasty infections just under the skin and developing a abscess which can collect a tremendous amount of fluid. This is extremely painful and can kill the cat if left untreated. They often rupture and drain on their own, but without antibiotics at the very least they will return. If the abscess is big enough, surgical repair may be needed, but the majority of the time a course of antibiotics and pain meds is all that is needed.
First time I ever saw one it was a bloody mess of a hole big enough that at first I thought someone had shot the cat.

mike28wMere mortals cannot tell that a cat is sick until they are really, really ill. Often, they hide their health issues until it's too late. If it were my cat, I would get to a vet soon!! An appointment for a couple of days would not be quick enough, imo !
I'm sorry your cat is sick....Best wishes, mike

Sig2340David, please email me an address where I can send the funds to help offset the cost.

Many on here will kick up some $$. I paid $600 for my cat to get an enema meds X-ray then 30 days later paid $300 for the same treatment. Now I have to give him Metamucil once a day and it’s not easy. He is 16 and also suffering from a thyroid issue but it’s under control but we know he won’t be around much longer.
I never knew how long a cats life is so 16 years seems a long life. I have a small animal crate, small dog crate ready with a thick soft towel inside. The one time Tiger rode in my van he sat in my lap the whole way. I never opened the door until we were back home.

Dammit, I just looked with my flash light and where there was about a 1/2 inch diameter blister looking thing, there is now a hole. Clean looking as he is licking himself. I think he will be fine until we get to the Vet tomorrow but that is just terrible to see.

Guys, I can see tomorrow if the Vet has a account to send funds to. It is PetVet 365 here in Florence, Kentucky. They are just 1 1/2 miles from me.

YooperSigsI will guess its an abscess. Pretty common in outdoor cats. If you need cat $$$, just get back on SF and let everyone know.

Thank you all for helping with this. I've been dealing with thoughts of losing the little guy all week. Mother passed in hospice March 31st 7 days before her 88th birthday, I get a left side pelvis hernia and my cat comes up with this. Needless to say, it's been a load. Bless you all for your kindness.

I had one that made it to 21 before I had to take him on one final ride to the vet. He was the sweetest, most gentle cat ever, and that ride hurt! The next oldest was 16 on the final ride... that one just about put me in the ground with grief and depression, literally!
Here's hoping for a great outcome for you and Tiger this afternoon!!!

David LeeThank you for asking. I just got back and Tiger, earlier was hiding under the porch from thunder and rains. That scratch pay program is something I would need to apply to and still may not get. Three different ladies brought me the invoice for their service. Basically shave and clean the area, a shot of antibiotics and a shot for pain. Uh..$258.00 plus $68.00 Office visit. They wanted pay now before helping my pet. I said I cannot do that. I will make a 2nd post of his condition.

David LeeTiger is walking a little better with his back legs. The 2 holes are closing up, are quite smaller and are healing. I was told all the licking is somewhat how they heal. He is still licking them some. I read not to use peroxide as it slows down healing. As for the antibiotics the neighbor gave me, they were going to give the same to Tiger. I have 6 doses left and feel like that will finish any infection. My Tiger is laying down now so shortly I will give him a pill. I thank all you kind souls for offering to help with my little friend. He means a lot to me. My kitty. He's my Tiger.

David LeeThat's the one Brad. Noah's Arc is another close by and I'm told a little more affordable. I don't think we will need a Vet now as he seems to be getting past this. Tiger was about to launch atop the porch railing earlier and I stopped him. That's 3 feet up and he jumps it often. He seems a little to weak still for cat follies.

DzozerVery glad to hear he's doing better. Keep us posted... And yes, no leaping and bounding

David LeeI have another question here. Tiger sleeps on the front porch. I was laid down 5 minutes when he started screaming like being attacked by another cat. There is a large black male which is the one I think both boys scrapped with and both got their infected lumps. But this, this is the 3rd time Tiger has pood where he is sleeping. He had 3 tuffs if his hair pulled out. I could not find another cat just now anywhere. Is my cat having issues going poo or is it because another is attacking him and he craps ?
May 03, 2025, 12:11 AM
newtoSig765Sounds like another cat attack, and that cat has Tiger's number. Time for him, and maybe your other cat, to spend nights inside, at least until the attacker loses interest. Tonight is not too soon to bring them in!
Don't forget who's in charge of their best interests, either. As much as he may dislike indoor life, he needs it.
