Fanta is #1 by a mile if you can find a fountain pouring it. Fortunately, I have several sources around here, including Roy Rogers.

Stewart’s is an easy #2, especially if the bottle is nice and icy.

Now... the small batch stuff you’re talking about - from the Kutztown Festival (I presume, since that’s definitely not where the PA State Fair is) - is worth the drive from Annapolis every July. I always come back with a case of the birch beer and a case of the sarsaparilla.

Personally, I can’t drink the PA Dutch brand. Something about it just doesn’t taste right.

I bet Aeteocles doesn’t know what sarsaparilla is either.

So - who wants to debate the finer points of Cherry Smash vs. Almond Smash?

A small local soda manufacturer here is Newfields, NH makes a great line of soda. Using all fresh clean water, the flavors are much better than the larger companies.

Best part is they are right next to a outstanding General Store that makes all fresh produces from selads to deserts.

I grew up in Central Pennsylvania and Birch Beer is my favorite soda.
I now live west of DC and it is almost impossible to find!

But then so is Good Pizza, hoagies, burgers, etc...

I hail from central NY and always preferred birch beer to root beer. Cream soda wasn't bad either, still...

Hadn't come across any in years and years. Then a small place opened up locally selling all sorts of limited distro old fashioned drinks from all over the country in addition to old time candies. Yup they have birch, ginger, sassafras, cream, you name it. Nice for a real treat!

I've had some in Michigan. I don't see it everywhere, but here and there I'll run into it.
