I’ve got about 4 WTB loaded and ready to go when Para revives our classifieds.

I don’t sell much anymore, I buy from time to time. But the WTB always seemed to produce results on this “small” forum, by comparison to some others. It’s a good group of folks.

Not in a rush, the hunt is fun in itself, but I’ve got a list going Big Grin

And those are the Ads that seem to be the most causes of trouble.

I’ve got something to sell too, and decided when Para shut it down, and my ad was current, that it’s fine. I’d rather wait until he resumes vs. posting it somewhere else. I’ve always had excellent experiences buying and selling here so much so that I don’t want to do it anywhere else.

Yeah,

I'm sure that was lot of BS going on behind the scenes that Para and the others had to deal with when the ads were open.

I had put out a WTB ad that didn't get much action, but I can't imagine what goes on when payment gets mailed and the envelope dies in Palmetto, Ga.

"My payment was sent but it has been at 30268 for two weeks!" or who knows what if the FFL doesn't want to play nice.

I am the opposite...There were to many WTB ads and not enough WTS. I used to find all kinds of really good deals on pistols and accesories. The last few years nothing cool!!!

^^^^ Might not be enough WTS ads for you, but there have always been much more WTS than WTB ads.

Definitely used to be more members with more items for sale. Changing times, dwindling online forum activity and folks honing collections changed that.

I’ve noticed the same but it’s just a change, not a negative for me. As my buying and collecting has taken a similar path. Less eccentric, more honed.

I feel bad because I am pretty sure my account getting hacked was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Since the day it was closed I have scrolled all the way down to the bottom of the forums page hoping it might just reappear.
While most of the time I don’t have the money to buy I still enjoyed browsing.

It’s crazy how this forum is the essence of a “forum” and “classifieds”.

Maybe crazy isn’t the word, but there are so many other bigger, more advertised, more touted forums that don’t have the membership of SigForum.

This is a special place.

I miss the Classifieds, but I kind of slowed down selling stuff recently because shipping costs have gone through the roof. But I eagerly await the return of the Classifieds, they are fun to look through and buy stuff.

I will buy a new kydex holster IF I absolutely have no other reasonable choice. Lead time generally isn't bad for anything in kydex.
Custom leather? That's an entirely different matter.
The last time I ordered something new from one of the "famous" custom leather makers, the actual wait was about twice what had been advertised on their website.

I do understand, employees call in sick, they have family emergencies and the excuses list goes on and on.
About double the advertised lead time? That's a lot of sick employees. That sounds more like a "lie" to me.

Now? I generally try and buy something used in custom leather first before ordering new. You would be amazed what people have laying around in their odds & ends holsters boxes.
What's the first thing I'm going to do with a brand new custom leather holster? Scratch it or scuff it on something in the woods or getting on/off of a tractor. It's inevitable.
Likely 80% of the time when I am looking for a nice used custom leather holster, I am successful.

I do miss the classifieds. I also hope getting the classifieds reopened doesn't cause a ton of extra work and hassle for the people doing what they do behind the scenes.

I hate this. Something like a holster or belt or hat or magazine for under $10 isn't such a great deal anymore when it costs at least $13 to ship.

Yeah, shipping hurts now. I just tried to buy ~$10 worth of wiper blades, but the shipping was $29 so I deferred. On a side note though, that might be a good thing for brick and mortar businesses. You might as well buy local if the shipping eats up the cost savings.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."
