A little backstory first. I have 5 children from the ages 14 to 3. The four oldest are girls. My wife comes to find me and let’s me know there are three police trucks in our cul-de-sac. (We are slowly seeing homeless camps creep towards our neighborhood.) I go out to see what is going on, worried about our elderly neighbors. But also wondering why there were three police trucks. A fire truck pulls up and the firefighters get out but are waved off by the police and head back to the truck. An ambulance followed by another police truck pull up. I am worried to see my neighbor wheeled out. Instead it was a 20 something bleached blonde guy with no shirt. He was cuffed and on the gurney. My worry went to anger. Thankfully, the police were there to take care of things. I grabbed my son to wave at the police. (He was beyond ecstatic with police, a fire truck and and ambulance.) He is waving and everyone waves back. The police are talking between their trucks and my daughters all start clapping for them. I was pleasantly surprised as this was unprompted. I am proud of my kids, especially when I found out that my 7 y/o started the clapping.
