Remarks by President Trump at the Congressional Medal of Honor Society Reception
One of the qualities which draw many of us to President Trump is his unconcealed admiration and respect for veterans and the military

At the link are his remarks at the reception at the White House for the Medal of Honor Society this afternoon attended by 32 MOH recipients, about half the living ones.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Our President is honoring the right people, the ones who deserve it.

As an aside, it is simply the Medal of Honor. Congress has nothing to do with it.
Nor are they in any form, Honorable.

Very nice remarks...clearly heartfelt.

But I've always heard that it is incorrect to say one "wins" the Medal of Honor. If that is true, I'm surprised his protocol folks didn't pick it up when the remarks were reviewed.

If you look at the link, you will see the headline I used was verbatim from the White House, and that the President used the term in his remarks.

I refer you also to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society http://www.cmohs.org/ whose members were honored at the WH.

On the website the following is found:

quote:
The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. Generally presented to its recipient by the President of the United States of America in the name of Congress.
