Staring back from the abyss |
I hate you. This thing is an ass-kicker! But, I'm glad that I have it as I really need to get back into shape. I've been mostly sedentary since buggering up my ankle a few years back and not being able to run anymore has taken it's toll. My question is, does anyone make a decent Couch-to-5K type app for rowing? I'd like to build up slowly like that program does and not try to kill myself. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Sorry, not sorry!!! As for an app I am not sure. I don’t use an app. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

My wife is addicted to hers.... she does about 5 miles a day on the damn thing.... of course depending on how far 'out' she rows then she has to row all the way back. The one I bought for her is actually made here in the U.S.A. in New Jersey I think. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

I have always heard a rower is one of the best workouts. I need to get back into shape and lose some weight but my problem right now is I am suffering from an impinged nerve in my lower back and ANY kind of bending forward or back hurts like hell. I am thinking walking might be the only option or would a rower be okay? I have never used one before so I have no idea the strain it would put on the lower back. NRA Benefactor Life Member

I've got a bad back as well with multi-level facet arthropathy as well as foraminal stenosis at L3 and 4. My PT tells me that rowing will be very good for it in that strengthening the back musculature and the core (abs) is what you want. He's cautioned me to take it slow and maintain proper form/posture. Thus far, although it's only been a few days, I've got a bunch of sore muscles that I forgot I had but the low back is good as far as nerve issues. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." I love my water rower! I typically do 7500 meters per day, unless I can get out on my mountain bike. There are some guided row videos on YouTube, but I’m not aware of a specific app.

I have had a Waterrower for about 2 years, it will kick you butt... I love it. If you want connected tech for it, there is the Ergatta. www.etgatta.com I have a friend that has it and loves it, I am old school and just dial up some tunes or a Netflix show. Do, Or do not. There is no try.

Interesting. I will talk to my doctor about it and see if I can try one out. NRA Benefactor Life Member
