signewtNot a Sovereign Citizen. Just a slow-thinking jackwagon
One late night in the early 1980s headed for my old hometown, I was rolling thru a small eastern Oregon town maybe pushing the 30mph limit just a bit, when my neck felt the heat of the red/blue/red from the car behind.
The old time cop checked me out, scanned for consumables and had decided to issue verbal warning. Then looking better at my license he asked whether I knew so-and-so on xxxStreet in Boise. "Yes sir, that's my dad".....*kaff*kaff*....and just to make sure I knew he knew, he asked whether he still stopped at XYXYX local watering hole. Well 'yes sir he does now & again'.....a couple little anecdotes & a little reminder that he didn't want to have to tell him his son had been involved in any kind of traffic problem the next time they had a beer together. "Ha Ha Ha. Yes Sir".
I carefully traveled the rest of the 6 blocks suddenly realizing how lucky a young fool could be, suddenly noticing the 20mph speed signs.
That single incident of unexpected and real personal connection remains fresh in my memory.

rock185Been there, done that, with one of those individuals.
Stopped him for simple speed violation. One thing led to another, and I ended up arresting him and impounding his vehicle. As Sovereign Citizens are wont to do, he filed some kind of lien against me in court. Town attorney had to go to court to quash whatever he'd filed. I still have a long letter he wrote me around here somewhere, alleging I'd violated all kinds of U.S. Code, his civil rights, and "stolen" his car, and on and on....
