Well, plans are set, but it will be spring before he concrete can get poured. 12w 16deep, 6' maybe 8' roll up door. Solar panel for lights.

It will be about $2,000 for the concrete work including sod removal. I plan to buy material over the winter here and there.

I had a monopour 16x30' slab done for slightly over $2k

I would get a few bids. Maybe do the dig out yourself.

I've been flirting with the idea of using a 20' shipping container. Maybe cut in a window or two and mount some flower boxes below. Paint it to match the house.

That would be good. How much would that cost including the site prep. $4k or more?

I know that I can get a container around here in the 2k range. I can't speak on site prep. Yes, 8x20 is the size I was thinking of. You can also get 40's, in 8' tall, or 9.5 tall.

I don't know that it would be a cheaper solution than a standard wooden shed, but it sure would be stout. I think it would be a fun project.

This size is quite a bit bigger than needed but within the limits of non permitted building. Any bigger, I'd go full on shop and I don't have the space, cash or plans to live in this location long enough to make it worthwhile.

I built my own shed a few years ago for a quarter of the price lowes or home depot wanted for their top of the line shed. Forget blocks.....do the project the right way and use concrete footers you won't regret it and it's really not that much more work. My shed is much sturdier than any of those prefab sheds you purchase and sheds are pretty straightforward to build as long as you're good with your hands and have a little patience.

Quick question, construction adhesive or the foam strips between bottom plate and concrete? I’ll Hilti bolt the base plate down.

As long is the ground is relatively hard, you don't have to do anything but set the container on the ground, it has a floor and it ends up about 6" off of the ground.

Walls are up and almost square. I miss measured the upper wallplate so I need to adjust that a touch to bring the end walls in about a 1/2” each end. Bottom plates are right at 16’ and 12’ but the tops of the side walls are 16’ 1”.

I’m getting ready to do trusses and sheeting. Back to the store.
