What are some of the coolest album covers you’ve ever seen? I’ll start with this: Dark Side of the Moon Abbey Road Nirvana Nevermind Iron Maiden Killers

Partial dichotomy |
I'm a big fan of Roger Dean who did many of the Yes album covers and a cool one for Uriah Heep among others. I'd put Tales from Topographic Oceans and Relayer on top of my list. Quadrophenia is pretty great too.

Live long and prosper |
A lifetime ago i collected vinyls and owned a pair of “Album cover albums” books that were LP sized. They were an impressive collection of cover art. Somehow luckily, i gave those books away when i got chased away from my own apartment by the mother of my estranded sons. My records were stolen and the images on those books would break my heart over and over if i saw them. Remember The Eagles “One of these nights” (?) album cover was pressed not flat - don’t know the right words. The one with the cow skull and native american decoration. Rolling Stones Sticky fingers with a real zipper.”Her satanic majestie”s request with 3D cover One of Mike Oldfield’s Platinum had a blueish exquisitely smooth surface. Yes, also a fan of Roger Dean’s art. Sgt Pepper and We’re only in it for the money. So many… 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

Wow. Been a long time since I've heard that album. Gonna have to queue that up on Spotify. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

I agree, Roll the Bones was a great cover. I’ve always liked the Motels All Four One cover also.

Not sure why this is in the Lounge instead of the Lair, but here is a just a few of my old favorites. Albums covers used to have some great artwork. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock "If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it." is circumspective |
Before you all accuse me of shoehorning an XTC reference into these types of threads, it's true. I know it. But I believe this throwback to Peter Max(ish) type art bears a mention. And a pretty good record, as well. "We're all travelers in this world. From the sweet grass to the packing house. Birth 'til death. We travel between the eternities."
