Omega had it for months before sending it back to me saying they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It was still running a minute a day fast. I sent it back again, they had it for months, told me they couldn't fix it, and replaced it with a brand new watch.

A few years later when the new one started running fast I asked around for advice, took it to a local watchmaker, and had it back, once again keeping perfect time, in a few days.

I'm no watch expert, and while a min/day seems on the high side, and the time frames (months) may have been frustrating, getting a brand new Omega out of the deal probably doesn't fall in the 'appalling' category IMHO.

Back on track...

Marathon seems to be one of brands that is harder to find service/parts for. Top quality, but not in the same league as far as market/support as Rolex, Omega, etc.

You've had several options shared. At this point, if you're comfortable with sending it out of country, Marathon is probably the way to go. If not, one of the domestic service providers mentioned here is probably worth reaching out too.

Watches can be as addictive as other hobbies to be sure. In addition to liking the appearance and appreciating the craftsmanship, part of the appeal (at least to me) is they're something you can display and share openly out in public. You might be rockin' that $4K Wilson 1911 in a sweet Milt Sparks rig, but if you're doing it right, no one out in public will ever know.

A watch you can flaunt all day long and you can enjoy every time you look at your wrist.

$.02 Worth.

Despite some people's claims to the contrary, 5 lbs. is actually different than 12 lbs.
It's never simple/easy.
