I have a chipper that has small tires on it that are flat and won't take air. So I need to get the tires and wheels of the axle. They have tin caps on them that look like they have two tabs on them. How do I remove these to get the wheels off of the axle. I do not wish to bugger the caps up. Thanks guys.

You can buy those caps at the hardware store . Get them off any way you wish .

Thanks guys, I do not have a puller. Guess I can just pry off? Probably iffy if the cap can be reused?

The cap on mine is a bit different than the one on the cadet unit.

It has been a long time since I've encountered these, but I used to just pry them off, and re-use them. If they were bent enough to be chancy for re-use, a few hammer taps would generally make them compliant. Once in a while, a friction tab would snap off necessitating a
replacement.

Just run a flat screwdriver under the edge and firmly pry, moving around the cap and it should pop off..

well not so far. also a couple of index finger bloody knuckles

Grab them with a Channelok pliers & wiggle to & fro. They'll come off.

Get you some paracord wrap a few loops in the middle of the cord around the axle behind the caps grab the ends and pull in quick hard bursts.
Should be able to pop the caps off if that makes sense.

Thanks guys, got them. Those tabs just dig in as you try to remove. Pry a little at a time, finally came off. I think I can reuse. Again, thanks for the advice.
