I was doing well until they played Taps. The Honor Guard did a wonderful job. I appreciated it very much.

RIP dad.

You OK now, mark123?

It will take a while to get back to "normal", but one thing that worked for me with both my mum and dad was that I could talk to them anytime, anywhere. And no tolls.

Yeah, he looked good. Just like before he fell ill. Everything was nice.

I edited after you replied.

Take it easy for a while. Easy but occupied. Be mindful, all senses are not at their sharpest.

Crying is a good release, and you have a good heart. That is most obvious of you.

He was lucky to have had you for as long as he did, and you, him.

Crying because you lost someone you cared for is a good thing. It means you have natural emotions. Expect a few more "episodes" in the future. Just talking about my dad, two years later, can make me shed a tear or two. Sorry for you loss Mark.

40 years on, it still hurts losing my dad. My greatest sympathies in this tough time.

Taps and the rifle volleys are what really made it sink in for me. It does get easier with the passage of time but it's just never the same.

My dad wanted to fart around on guitar so I gifted him one of mine on father's day about 12 years ago. Today I got it back.

Even better is that my step-mother wanted me to have the flag with rifle rounds that the Honor Guard presented to her today. She said that I was the only one that ever helped when he needed it.

Made me feel better all around.

Mark, I always knew you as a good guy. Your step-mom's gesture confirms that. Condolences, my friend.

God bless brother. It's tough for awhile, as others have said, reading what you posted today, you're already on the healing path. Prayers continued my friend.

My condolences to you and your family. All I can offer is after the grief wears off what you're left with turns to warm and pleasant memories.
