Here in Oregon we have a login to the Oregon State police stolen gun check database. We can’t search the database. We submit the firearm info and an officer reviews it and then marks it clear or not clear.

It’s the same process as running a 4473 except you don’t input any purchaser info. Gun info only. If it comes in clear, you log it in the books. If not clear, you hand it over. You’ll most likely get a phone call right away if it’s been reported stolen.

Yes. State specific. I know the local pawn shop has a close relationship with local cops. I am pretty certain they run the used guns through a database, but generally do not publicize the fact.

I shipped a Makarov to a guy's dealer in OR, and he called me raising hell cause it was stolen,,


I bought it from an insurance company , stolen/loss/fire/damage recovery guns (bought a truck load)

seems in this case, the insured misplaced them, realized it a year later, filed a police report, and insurance claim as stolen,

then,, months later, found them and went ahead and turned them in to the insurance co,,,,,,

both forgot to notify the police,


got that cleared up in about a day,
