That is a talented group you listed. I think you would challenged to find a Top 40 group today with their musicality.

Allison Kraus. OMG. (Maybe not top 40, but in country, yes.)

Good musicians are out there. And think of all the terrible music that was out there when John Denver was big, just for example. There was plenty of bad music on the radio in the '70s and '80s. This is true in every era. Mozart's competitors - the third and fourth rate ones - are totally forgotten. Even the second rate ones are mostly forgotten.
