This is a PROBLEM. I used to work in the state Prison in Orlando. TRY to properly discipline a life sentence inmate. Take away his privileges when he breaks rules. He will take away your life for "disrespecting him". They truly, and I mean TRULY dont give a fuck about your life. I have been told numerous times, that I would be dead if it weren't for the death penalty hanging over their head. You see, when you tell a life sentence inmate that their is no other punishment available to them than a life sentence (that they already have), then they have zero incentive not to kill a prison officer, or other inmate that they cant get along with.

I have witnessed a prisoner killing another prisoner. Afterwards, when asked why? I didn't care for the guy and I knew I wouldn't get the death penalty, so why not. Plus I get to go hang out in the county jail awaiting trial for 2 to 3 years where I can sit in the AC."

The death penalty is ESSENTIAL to keeping our prison officers alive. There are thousands upon thousands of inmates serving with life sentences that have nothing to lose otherwise.
