As a kid, Mom would make homemade Mac-n-cheese with slices of hot dog!

I sometimes feel guilty about it, but Kraft boxed Mac and Cheese, the cheap 89 cents a box version, complete with fake powdered cheese, is far and away my favorite... High-end mac-and-cheese, with 4 different cheeses hand grated by my wife, with all the love and cream she can put it it just doesn't compare to the mass produce crap from Kraft...

Ain't no shame in that.

Mac shouldn't be fancy. Truffle oil? Lobster? Etc. Fuck that.

Simple ingredients, and a rue.

Frankly, Kraft Mac is now all natural, and adding just one vegetable can go a long way.

Arc.

Vegetable? What’s that?

Jalapenos are technically a vegetable, right?

My kids love the Kraft variety like most kids seem to. Must say I'm not much of a fan but it's surprising how some sriracha sauce can make basic M&C taste fairly good. I grew up with homemade pastas and casseroles so we didn't get the Kraft much. My grandma would make a chicken and velveeta casserole I'd climb a mountain for. Been a while since I've had velveeta nowadays...probably good for me. :P

Stouffer's Mac and Cheese has no rival. It's the best tasting stuff out there. A couple three minutes in the nuker, and enjoy its creamy goodness.

It'll kill you, but it is oh so good.

I remember buying Kraft for a quarter a box. Helped get me thru my bachelor times after college.

Made from scratch now; white sauce and all.

I’m going to try it – thanks for the tip. That would be this “Blue Box Original Cheese”?

My youngest lives in Japan and gets cravings for Kraft M&C, so several times a year I send her a care package of boxes of it.

Yes, the blue box was a staple of college life as was Hamburger Helper. I swore both of them off after graduating. Much prefer to make my own mac and cheese from scratch. Family prefers it also.

I can’t cook for shit.

My mom could cook.

Mom’s been gone a long time now.

What I wouldn’t give for a plate of mom’s tacos and and big bowl of her mac-n-cheese.

They even have vitamin C!

My wife makes a killer homemade mac and cheese. I'm about to go wipe out the last of the leftovers from a batch she made last week. Large shells, some chicken, and a mix of Tillamook white cheddar and the end of some gruyere some guests brought recently. I was so happy to see it still in the fridge after reading this thread, lol.

I did, and I enjoyed it. Thanks for posting it. Smile

I much prefer the Swiss take on it rather than the purported Byzantine version with cinnamon and rosewater and sugar. That sounds remarkably unpleasant.

Man. It's so easy to make it from scratch. I make the box stuff in a pinch.

But as long as you have some chz in the fridge. Make it from scratch! Roux, milk, cheese and noodles. BOOM!
