Because it appears he did not have a finger on the trigger. (Likely) He was not "committed".

A firearm is not a magic talisman, that grants one powers, simply by possessing it.

I can only hope that the K9 got (what looks like) a mouth full of franks and beans before the shitbag expired.

A thing of beauty.. The dog did his thing and the officers followed up with what needed to be done...bad guy decided to play a stupid game and came up on the short side. Saved the public a big chunk of change in prosecution and incarcartion for many years to come.... Now will have to see the public outcry and the family filing wrongfull death lawsuits....... drill sgt.

I paused that luckily at the right moment, the muzzle appeared to be touching the K9's head.

Pulling a hand gun when pursued by AR toting officers never ends well. Glad the officers (including those with paws) were not injured.

Yet again, had this moron just opted for the simple solution and given up (especially given the circumstances), none of this would have occurred. Takes a special kinda stupid to opt for the choice this clown made.

I think he didn't want to shoot the dog. From the second camera angle (the other body-worn-camera of the officer trailing to the left behind the pickup), it looked like he was first pointing at the dog and then turned toward the officers.
