My own anger at the assassination is so strong that it borders on physical pain. I simply do not want the action of a deranged left-wing bigot to prompt the same reaction from me.
Utah has the death penalty by firing squad if lethal injection isn’t available. I would hope that is the fate of the assassin! FAFO…

Without significant resources, you pick and choose what you can cover. You have limited resources, and you lock down roof tops? The shooter just moves to another interior location. Or otherwise creates an urban hide.
People chattering about drone this and that. Ok, two drone teams are a minimum of four more people. Depending on the drone, depending on wind conditions, can only stay airborne 20-40 minutes. So, in order to have constant ISR, you have to time the drones going down to stagger them. And the drone has to be in the right place at the right time.
Fact is, security on a budget is tough. I have significant time doing dignitary protection. And it is labor intensive. I know we want someone to blame, but the chances are they did the best that they could afford. Evil finds a way. They just have to be lucky.
You sound like you work for the government. 4 people? I have an $1800 drone and could easily cover that area by myself with one drone. Certainly keeping an eye on all the high locations since apparently that’s not done at all.
A 15 second battery change and I’m back in the air for another 30 minutes. I’m just saying it’s something to consider realizing most of these types of shootings happen from an elevated position. You can hire 30 people to stand near the speaker but all they are going to do is stop someone from rushing the stage.
At the very least they need to clear the buildings before the event and then keep people watching every entrance.

Lefty SigA father who's a 27 year law enforcement veteran, and a mother who cares for disabled people, with an intact family, two siblings, and upper middle class upbringing. Good parents teach their kids right from wrong, but also hold them accountable when they do wrong.
I am thinking we will hear from the parents that college radicalized their son. But also curious to see what signs there were, and if there is any history or mental illness.

Chuck PerryIn regards to the use of drones and requisite manpower, is there not drone technology that could do overwatch autonomously? It seems like a pretty simple task to program a drone to loiter within a certain GPS defined area, say 1000 yard radius from the protected person, and then watch rooftops, windows, etc. for activity. If it detects activity that would be considered suspicious, push a notification out to a person or group of persons that could a) view a live feed of the activity and 2) provide GPS coordinates of the exact location. Surely that has to already exist, and at a price point accessible to private persons?

trapper189Not an expert. We have about a dozen Mausers; surplus, sporterized, and commercial; and a half dozen Model 700s. The front ring of the receiver looks Mauser like.

Also confirmed were the sophomoric, moronic engravings on the cartridges. They were called out very specifically (there were symbols present as well) but were composed of such bullshit that I can't accurately recall their content.
ETA:
The casing that had been fired read: “notices bulges OWO what’s this?”
One read, 'hey fascist! catch!' with an up arrow symbol, right arrow symbol, and three down arrow symbols.
Another one read: “oh bella ciao bella ciao bella ciao ciao ciao,” Cox said.
The third fired casing read: 'if you read this you are gay lmao.'

There is no gun registration in Utah, and a strong private sale culture. There could easily be no record of who purchased the rifle. I expect the parents are fully cooperating with the investigation, to include the circumstances of the rifle.

TMatsCouldn’t hear the questions asked at the press conference in Orem, but in light of the inscriptions on the rifle rounds, and the spent casing, I wanted someone to ask if the assassin had a connection to ANTIFA, even if just through social media. When you describe Charlie Kirk as a “fascist,” it’s logical to conclude that Robinson considered himself anti-fascist.
