I watched the press conference and I was hoping we would get more information about the process of the manhunt. I suppose they are following operational security procedures and we the public don’t need such information. Edit: I miss George W. when he fired everyone up by saying he would get terrorists out of their holes and run them down to bring them to justice.
I don’t understand why security guards don’t have a couple of drones that could easily survey the roofs of all these buildings very quickly and very easily and if someone sees something get the speaker out of harms way.
If they can’t do any better than they have this will be bound to happen over and over. It used to be the fringe leftists that were unhinged enough to do it but after the last couple of days it’s obvious a much bigger percentage than any of us thought.

I'll tell you one thing for sure- I don't want to hear another Goddamned thing the governor of Utah has to say. I just don't want to listen to empty, meaningless platitudes from a politician, when I tune into a press conference for information.
Just shut the fuck up and go away, governor. Nothing you're saying has any meaning whatsoever. I listened to your stupid bullshit yesterday and I listened to it this evening, and I don't want to hear another word from you, ever. I'm sure you mean well, but I don't care. This is not what the public needs to hear right now.

Without significant resources, you pick and choose what you can cover. You have limited resources, and you lock down roof tops? The shooter just moves to another interior location. Or otherwise creates an urban hide.
People chattering about drone this and that. Ok, two drone teams are a minimum of four more people. Depending on the drone, depending on wind conditions, can only stay airborne 20-40 minutes. So, in order to have constant ISR, you have to time the drones going down to stagger them. And the drone has to be in the right place at the right time.
Fact is, security on a budget is tough. I have significant time doing dignitary protection. And it is labor intensive. I know we want someone to blame, but the chances are they did the best that they could afford. Evil finds a way. They just have to be lucky.

Now remember, everything after Noon-ish on 10 Sep 25 is hindsight.
How about not putting him in a damn kill box at the bottom of a downhill slope surrounded by buildings that all offer a perfect position and line of sight for a shooter?
Good god the layout is like a stage in a multiplayer first person shooter game where the "flag" is where Charlie was and everyone else is trying to snipe you.
Counter snipers are probably not going to be affordable in most cases, but at least a sweep of roofs with a spotter/drone monitoring all of them.
Need bullet proof front plexiglass screens for all public speakers that attract crazy protesters. Trump has them now. Ben, Matt, Michael and others conservatives need them.
So prior to noon-ish, 10 Sept 25, they didn't have them. I'll bet ya tomorrow, they're gonna HAVE them.
Again, hindsight being 20/20.
Up until yesterday, a lot of people didn't think they needed 3" of Level 7 or 8 Bullet Resistant Glass between them and the rest of the world. Tomorrow, they unfortunately do.
Yesterday, a lot of people, possibly including Mr Kirk, (and / or his detail) though it would look stupid / I don't need that / bad optics / too expensive / they are going to use this against me /and the multitude of other reasons. Tomorrow, stock in companies that make Bullet Resistant Glass, Armored Vehicles just went up.
Yesterday, a lot of people thought "Ehhh.. I just need a driver" Tomorrow, there's a lot more people in suits with those little squiggly earpieces and guns standing around.
And in a few months, years... "Damn! This shit is expensive! Do we really need all of this?" "Well, nothings happened since then, so nothing is going to happen tomorrow."

Bigger discussion is why do we need this level of security to just have open dialogue? That is the root question. Enough is enough.
Additionally, it was amazing to see JD and family taking Charlie home on AF2.
Also, I can't imagine the level of security they are going to have to put together for Baron Trump (amongst others of course), who coordinated all the folks like Charlie, Scott Pressler, Rogan, etc.

Looks like this was fake news. Probably AI generated. This makes sense. Jalen Hurts apparntly doesnt like President Trump - he declined Trump's invitation to the White House after winning the Super Bowl. So doubtful he is a Carlie Kirk supporter either.

In the video I posted, he says he draws about $300,000 from Turning Point USA but he gives all of that back. The interviewer says why he doesn’t just draw zero salary and save the payroll taxes, but he says he draws a salary because he believes he deserves a salary but he gives it back because he believes in the cause.
He says his income comes from his podcast shows which has so many million viewers and the books he writes each year.
He explains his motivation isn’t money but he likes that what he does allows him to not be poor and have to worry about groceries or medical costs.

The inference is that the gun is tucked down his pants. How feasible is this? Does a Mauser breakdown easily in to smaller pieces? They also showed footage of this person jumping off the roof and presumably still has the gun on them while jumping off the roof as the gun was found in the woods afterwards.
Can anyone elaborate on this?
Video of the suspect- matches the photos already posted by the FBI- walking with a limp like he has the rifle tucked in his pant leg.

I haven't been on here and I don't have the time at the moment to read the thread, but my heart breaks for his kids, who will not be able to avoid seeing the terrible videos of this event over and over again, probably starting entirely too young.

Since this wouldn’t be recreational, the person flying the drone would have to have an FAA part 107 pilot’s license. Flying the drone would require 100% of the pilot’s focus, so the pilot wouldn’t be able to do anything else. Probably be easier are cheaper to have a spotter on the tallest roof. Maybe a campus police officer getting paid overtime.

I don’t see how the guy in the pictures in that link is carrying a bolt action hunting rifle. Also, in the video showing someone running through a field, there’s a guy in the foreground wearing dark clothes, a dark backpack, and a cap that looks just like the guy in the first video and the pictures.

It's jammed between his hoodie and down his pant leg.
He tossed the rifle AFTER the shooting.

Guy in the pictures is wearing a long sleeve t-shirt. In the video I just saw on TV of a guy jumping from the college building roof there’s no way that guy has a rifle stuffed in his pants. This message has been edited. Last edited by: trapper189,

Well, he tossed the rifle. They found it. The scope is damaged from the fall.
He's running away without the rifle.
