StorminNorminHopefully I don’t offend by posting this since it is AI, but I was curious of what ChatGPT would produce if I asked it to create a Memorial Day poem. Did a hell of a lot better job than I could.
In a land where freedom's light does gleam,
We gather, hearts heavy, on this day of esteem.
With reverence, we honor heroes bold,
Whose sacrifices, stories yet untold.
On this solemn day, we come together,
To remember the brave, in any weather.
They fought with valor, their spirits unwavering,
For liberty's cause, their lives they were saving.
In distant fields, where battles were fought,
Their courage and strength, in memory still caught.
From shores afar to mountains high,
They stood as sentinels, with resolve in their eye.
Each fallen soul, a cherished name,
Etched on the walls of honor, their place of fame.
They fought for justice, for unity and peace,
Their legacy, a flame that will never cease.
We remember the ones who faced the fight,
Those who defended, with all their might.
They stood as guardians, fearless and true,
To protect our freedoms, for me and you.
Their sacrifice, a debt we cannot repay,
But on this day, we bow our heads to say,
Thank you, brave souls, for your selfless quest,
In our hearts, your memory forever blessed.
So let us pause, in a moment of reflection,
To honor their service, their dedication.
On Memorial Day, we stand as one,
Remembering the fallen, daughters and sons.
For in their memory, we find the way,
To cherish our freedoms, each and every day.
May their valor inspire, and their stories ignite,
A world where peace and love forever take flight.
On this hallowed day, we unite and pray,
For those who gave their all, on this Memorial Day.

flashguy^^^^^ Not bad.
I am fortunate in not having had any relatives die in combat, but many of the males in my family did serve (as did I--20 years USAF).
Memorial Day always reminds me to appreciate all those who did die to protect my freedom and life. They gave the supreme sacrifice and I can never be grateful enough.
RIP, departed warriors! We remember you.

sigmoidWe set aside an empty chair at dinner for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice
To remember and honor all those gave so much for freedom
Sad, isn’t it? One day set aside for our country to esteem those men and women
And then, 30 days to celebrate perverted, aberration, queer sodomites.
With my last breath I’ll speak out for those cannot.
