Here is another giant douche, ‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson Faces Backlash After Trump Comments Erik Kain | Senior Contributor Apr 15, 2024,02:13pm EDT Reacher star Alan Ritchson has upset a large portion of his fanbase after making comments about Donald Trump that the former president’s followers viewed as offensive. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ritchson—a devout Christian—discussed his faith and how he sees politics as a corrupting force within Christianity. “I'm a Christian quite simply because of what Jesus calls us to do," Ritchson told THR. "Love other people until death. It doesn't mean we're all to be hung on a cross, but how can I suffer for you? That is a beautiful thing." But Christians have become “ the most vitriolic tribe” the 41-year-old actor added. "It is so antithetical to what Jesus was calling us to be and to do." While Reacher was popular with conservatives—it was often hailed as an “anti-woke” show during its second season—Ritchson didn’t bat an eye calling out the former president. "Trump is a rapist and a con man,” he said in the interview, “and yet the entire Christian church seems to be treat him like he's their poster child and it's unreal. I don't understand it." Ritchson didn’t mince words when discussing the Catholic Church, either. "It's worth saying that the atrocities that are happening in the church that are being actively covered up, even to this day with people not being held accountable, is repulsive," he said. "I can't for one second support the Catholic Church while there are still cardinals, bishops and priests being passed around with known pedophilic tendencies." The actor also discussed unaccountable police departments, the problems with child models and other issues he sees facing Hollywood and our culture broadly speaking. It’s a remarkably candid interview. Q

But portraying a fella who murders dozens of people per episode isn't? Right. All of them 'roids went straight to what was left of his brain. As far as John Cougar? He lost me years ago. Drugs and booze rotted his brain. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

Mellencamp is from Southern Indiana (Seymour to be exact). When I was a Purdue student, I dated a gal (oops baby) whose much older brother personally knew Mellencamp. The brother thought Mellencamp was room temp IQ and the drugs didn't help. It wasn't a conservative vs liberal thing either as the older brother was liberal. No, just a giant douche! "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Isbell Is a great songwriter. I separated the person from the art a long time ago. After I watched him scold a fan for mouthing the lyrics at a small acoustic show I stopped supporting him live https://www.whiskeyriff.com/20...his-online-presence/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Live today as if it may be your last and learn today as if you will live forever

One thing I read back decades ago from industry people was that Johnny Cougar was a true numbskull, just a really dumb guy. And everything I have seen from the guy, I have to agree. I have never been a big fan of most country music and really still am not but the general politic of those artists align a lot closer to me than whatever most of the popular douchebags espouse. I do not relate with the latest "I wear a cowboy hat and boots so I am a country artist." I find it extremely rude for celebrities to express opinions on political and other sensitive matters. In effect they are saying, "because I'm prettier, smarter, more talented, wealthier, and generally better than you, your thoughts and positions are meaningless and invalid." Not that this perspective is completely unknown in the general populace. Of course all politicians say the same thing, but at least they have a transparent motive, and can be cut a little bit of slack for doing so with something to gain. On a slightly different note, but I think applicable. I've heard many times that the motivation to pursue an acting career is at least somewhat rooted in low self-esteem. After all, hating oneself is powerful motivation for pretending to be someone else. Certainly, the behavior of the "famous" after they attain celebrity seems to bear this out. They even laugh at each other and themselves about each others' fragile egos. However, does a lack of self-confidence imply that one should be more or less impressed by their opinion of the day? Finally, I have also long heard the conjecture that JCM may be a few bricks short of a wheelbarrow load in the intellect department, going back to when he was just Cougar.

I don't care much about an entertainer's private views, otherwise there would be almost no one left to entertain me, but spare me the lectures during a performance, please.

Went to a Crosby-Nash concert back when Hillary was running for president. Half the KS audience booed and flipped them off. It was a horrible performance, sorry I went.

This inconsistency right there tells me to ignore the guy. As for Mellencamp, I love his (80’s and 90’s) music and that isn’t going to change. That said, politically he has always been a lefty and while disappointing to see, it is what it is. As a musical act, Mellencamp has always been a disagreeable, sometimes volatile little bastard. In part, I think this is what probably helped make him a great singer/songwriter and performer. It also probably gave him many ruined relationships. Mellencamp making political ramblings that support joestupid at his concerts doesn’t surprise me, but him getting all pissy because some in the audience objected and simply wanted him sing instead of blather is probably haughtiness on Mellencamp’s part or an oversight on the fans part or some combination of both.

Ticket prices for concerts have gotten insane the past few years. Artists don't make dick off albums anymore, but instead make money off concerts, YouTube music video clicks, other social media clicks, etc. I took a gander on Ticketmaster for his ticket prices for his next concert (tomorrow in Fayetteville, NC). Lower area tickets are $100 to $140, and upper area is $40 to $140. Apparently, he isn't popular enough to garner the insane prices but it's still good money. Also, the people who spent the money lost time twice (i.e. when they earned the money and when they wasted it attending his concert) that they'll never get back. I'd be pretty pissed if some douchebag cut the show 10 songs short because he had a tantrum over people not wanting to listen to his political speech. Conversely, get a reputation for ending shows early and your income is going to drop rapidly. synthplayer, above, nailed it: We were there to entertain, not to proselytize. So did Laura Ingraham: Shut up and sing! The fans are paying a pretty penny for a ticket to a show. Just perform to the best of your ability. Give them what they paid for. "Some things are apparent. Perhaps this is true for some however, many of them have bought-in to the you have a platform, and I (you) must use it ethos that the perpetually-aggrieved/professional complainer's have pushed. You see this mainly with younger celebrities who spout-off whatever buzzwords and bumper-sticker slogans/sayings whenever there's a camera or, a softball question. They can't resist shouting it out or, regurgitating the talking-points they've seen on social-media or, whomever is the celeb-guru of the moment. For older, more seasoned celebrities, like a Mellencamp, Springsteen, Madonna, DeNiro, Streisand...these people have lived the majority of their lives pampered, catered-to and coddled. Their closest friends & assistants exist in the same bubble as they are reliant on them, they all live in another bubble, their disconnect is distant and far. They walk around like their shit doesn't stink and believe their words mean more than anybody else's, so listen to me, because nobody has pushed their nose in the pile of BS they've created or believe.

Laughing at the book. My first thought at Mellencamp and Reacher-man was ‘Shut up and dance, monkey boy’. Similarly I no longer support entertainment with Daniel Craig or Liam Neeson. Make money off violence, death, and firearms but deny the ability of individuals to protect their own lives.

Nothing new for this douchebag. Way back when in 1981 at Colorado Sunday #1, he was booed off the stage, cut his performance short, crowd threw garbage at him just to be told we weren't deserving of him. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.
