He loved going to Spring Training and collecting his pins.

My Dad is 94 and is in the hospital because of Covid.

It looks like he has beaten the Covid pneumonia but is having heart and organ failure. He's worn out and lived a great life.

He has Parkinson's and has been on a feeding tube for a year and a half.

My Dad is a Korean War Vet and spent 30 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Alameda County California.

When he is released from the hospital, probably tomorrow, he will be put on Hospice care to pass at home.

Music saved his life. While he was back in camp just off of the front lines a superior officer looked at his paperwork and saw that he played the Trombone in High school. They put him in the company Band. His replacement was found dead about a week later with his head on a spike.

If not for the Trombone I probably wouldn't exist. I'm the youngest of five children.

Growing up, whenever there was a problem day or night, in the neighborhood or the jail my Dad would take care of the issues. He was always a go to guy.

He is a religious man and is at peace with his life.

I am going to miss him...

A gentle and loving man.

Sounds like a great guy and as you said "lived a great life."

Godspeed to him.

What a blessing to have such a man as a role model.

Our prayers are with you and your family, PR64. The tribute you wrote to him was awesome.

What a great life he has had. A stand up man for sure. We are just never ready for them to leave unless they are in a no win situation. Hospice is a wonderful group of caring nurses that exist solely to make the end as pain free and lucid as possible. I’m glad they were there for my Mom . God Bless you and yours, and give all of you peace.

Very nice tribute to your father, the words of which I hope you shared with him. I lost my Dad all too quickly and wished I had a chance to say how much I loved him before he departed.

Your father is a blessing, men such as him certainly helped stop Communism. Please tell him I thank him for spreading Freedom.

May you find peace and solace while he lives out his final days and may his memory be a blessing.

Great tribute to a great man.
Will say a prayer for you and him.

When it was time for my wife to be in hospice care at our home (she said "I'm dying in my own bed"), I never met more caring and compassionate people.

My salute to your dad.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Peace to you and your father. I wish you both well. My dad died two years ago, and I still miss him, but it does get easier over time.

He sounds like a wonderful man and a good father. I am also a trombone player, so from one trombone player to another, I wish him godspeed.
