I’ve lost and found my favorite old Cold Steel folder probably 5-6 times over the last 20 years.
Usually find it open, where I was last prying or cutting on something, etc. Probably should retire it.

Couldn't say what was the last, it happens so often. Biggest problem is I'll be doing something, go to get something with something else, a tool or whatever, in my hand, set it down in some random place, without thought, then need it and have no idea where it went.

Then there was the time I couldn't find my good Starrett prick punch. Was nowhere it was supposed to be. Decided I wasn't going to drive myself to distraction, spending God knows how long, looking for it. Went up to the local hardware store, bought a cheap one, and carried on.

Went to put the new punch away, where it belonged, and guess what I found?

Yup

I find buying a replacement will bring the missing item out of hiding.

When I go to store the new one where I know I can find it, there lies the old one. I now have both a water purifier and a filter. The filter has always spent most of its life missing. Loaning it out then forgetting I had done it.

Looked high and low for a hand tool that I knew I had purchased.

Hadn't used it in five years,

Went to purchase another one,
The price had doubled. Too expensive now.

May have lost it during a relocation, or when I sold my little red car.

Told a buddy about my dilemma.

I had lent it too him, three years earlier

I have never found any of the 10mm sockets I have misplaced.
I should just buy them in bulk.
