Do---or do not.
There is no try.

I have been really frustrated with my HP 8610 color printer for some time and am ready for another brand. The HP drinks ink and won't print at all if one of the color cartridges is low (I guess it can tell when HP needs money).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I moved from HP printers to Brother printers (Japanese brand). Night and day difference for the better.

That's odd. I've had HP color inkjets for a long, long time, probably as long as HP has made them and the only thing that happens is that if one of the color cartridges is low, the color doesn't come out right.

If the black cartridge is low, you have trouble reading black print.

But it still works fine, just the finished product looks funky.

My current printer is the HP 9018E

You seriously need to ditch these stupid inkjets once and for all, they’re a total scam.

There are small color laser printers out there that are far better now and the price for them is not that much higher.

Brother and HP are good

And you couldn't pay me to get a color laserjet.

We're in agreement.

I had Canon after HP was a PITA. The stupid ink dries up whether you use it or not. I'm in the "never again" camp.

Now I have an HP Color Laserjet print/scan/copy/fax I bought in 2016 for less than $300. No problems and haven't had to replace the toner yet. That will be expensive when it's due, but will last a long time.

I have a 10 year old Epson Workforce all in one that is still kicking. That's probably a record for one of those machines.

My HP 6030 won't die. I rarely print anything as most documents are printed as a pdf and stored or scanned and stored. As usual the blacvk cartridge goes first but I buy the xl sized. Color is rarely used but the cartridges don't dry out. It will print even when they are out.

But if it does go I'll probably go with a eco tank type. They make more sense.

"Kodak" (actually made by Funai) Verité 55 "all-in-one." For $100 (what I paid at the time), it has lasted for over six years of near-daily use, never jams if I load paper correctly, doesn't shut down when a cartridge runs out, and prints flawless color pictures (which is what I mainly use it for). The only problem is going to be finding one, unfortunately. As well, the only reliable sources of ink are Walmart and Amazon.

HP has a ink subscription service called instant ink that sends you new cartridges when they are empty. They warranty the cartridge's and any problems they send you new cartridges. Plus they are full size and don't need replaced that often.

I spend way less money using the subscription service than I did when I used to buy new ink cartridges.

I don't have to print a lot, but its nice to know I have ink that's not dried out and a printer that works perfect. If it doesn't, they take care of it.

I detest inkjet printers and would never buy another one. Been using Brother laser printers the past few years, and I would highly recommend them. Yes, toner cartridges are not cheap, but to me it’s worth a little extra money.

I will also be going Brother Lazer Jet for the next printer.
Had an HP Lazer 20 years ago. Slow but dang that thing was a work horse. A toner cartridge would last a loooong time.

Hard Pass on that feature, or anything like it! I neither need, nor do I want any IOT devices 'phoning home', especially for ANY automatic billing related purposes!

Don't walk...Run from HP Inkjets and don't look back! There are MUCH better options!
