Let's see if Bezos figures it out. Remember, he made his bones keeping Amazon alive for lo, the many years that the buisness didn't actually make money.

The revenue from subscriptions only covers the cost of delivery, the real money is in advertising (which, of course, is reduced when the paper reaches fewer eyeballs). When I canceled (and stopped paying) my Post subscription about 15 years ago, the paper kept coming for over a year, and I am still getting a weekly advertising/coupon circular that I expressly declined to receive.

It’s a real puzzler.
