The revenue from subscriptions only covers the cost of delivery, the real money is in advertising (which, of course, is reduced when the paper reaches fewer eyeballs). When I canceled (and stopped paying) my Post subscription about 15 years ago, the paper kept coming for over a year, and I am still getting a weekly advertising/coupon circular that I expressly declined to receive.
