Any of our Maryland members missing some ordnance?

In this day and age how does one get, let alone lose, grenades in various stages of readiness? ------------------ The plural of anecdote is not data. -Frank Kotsonis

To put this in context, Dorchester County - and Hurlock in particular - is in the heart of our Eastern Shore (which is everything east of the Chesapeake). It’s about as deep a red as you’ll find outside of rural Texas. Lots of folks who... well... they’d fit in with us just fine. I’m sure they belonged to Billy Bob, who may or may not be a member of the national guard unit down there, or just a crusty old vet trying to get rid of them before he’s caught hunting with them by our natural resources police. (No, I’m not kidding.) Nothing to worry about. Seriously. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

The photo shows what appears to be a MK II pineapple grenade, those have been out of the system for 40-50 years. The article says "live grenades" but doesn't say what filler. It may have been HE (that's REALLY live!), or less potent black powder used in the training version.

Rob, you wouldn't make a good redneck. Fishing with explosives is much more popular and useful than hunting. Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity DISCLAIMER: These are the author's own personal views and do not represent the views of the author's employer.

You wouldn't believe the accountability that goes into military munitions down to expended brass, never mind live grenades (including turning in all pins, safety clips etc.) More likely inert bodies improvised back into various stages of being "live" which is not that hard to do. Or, if military issue...super old from way before things were accounted for like now. “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

They used to sell inert grenades at the gun shows 30 years ago. I don't know what you need to do to make the firing mechanism, but filling them back up to make them grenades again didn't look like it would be difficult.

No, but it is just as easy to wrap a pipe in nails as far as a housing goes. If you have the knowledge to make a primer/blasting cap (or acquire) and the HE fill (again, make or acquire), the body is the easy part. It is all simple really. Finding actual live issue grenades would be a big deal IMO, improvised not so much. The Boston Marathon pressure cooker bombs did way more damage that a frag grenade... “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

I came home from Army reserve summer camp one year with three practice Grenades (Painted Blue with live fuse), five M-80's (Simulated Mortar round) and two Phosphorus Grenades. Ordinance inventory was lax Needless to say I had fun that summer. ********* "Some people are alive today because it's against the law to kill them".

The threads for the practice grenades are smaller than the ones for live HE ones. Grenade bodies are easy to come by, intact live fuses not so much. _____________________________ 'I'm pretty fly for a white guy'.

Speaking of grenades, here's another article with few details. And a strange photo of a Soviet-style launcher. http://www.bradenton.com/news/...rticle197613449.html Goodwill employees find loaded grenade launcher among donated items BY JESSICA DE LEON jdeleon@bradenton.com January 31, 2018 01:13 PM Updated January 31, 2018 04:59 PM MANATEE Goodwill employees discovered a grenade launcher, loaded with a live grenade, this past weekend in a load of items donated at a Bradenton store, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. On Sunday, deputies were called out to the Goodwill Manasota Bargain Barn, 7501 15th St. E., after employees discovered a grenade launcher with a grenade inside it, according to an incident report. The store manager told deputies that the grenade launcher had come in on Jan. 25 in a shipment from a store on Cortez Road. According to the Goodwill manager, employees at the Bradenton location didn’t know what the donated item was, so they sent it to the Bargain Barn location. Deputies say they properly disposed of the active grenade by placing it in a Hazmat locker at the sheriff’s office District One office. The grenade launcher has been placed into the property room. The store manager told deputies she would let the other Goodwill store know about the discovery. Jessica De Leon: 941-745-7049, @JDeLeon1012

Here's an article with a photo of the actual launcher, which looks like a M203 underbarrel grenade launcher. But on closer inspection, it looks like it's an airsoft version. The grenade round itself especially looks like an airsoft round. http://www.khq.com/story/37400...orida-goodwill-store Airsoft M203 Note the cheap rail clamp and identical markings, reading: Launcher, Grenade 40mm M203 ICS Taiwan Airsoft 40mm grenade Note the holes drilled around the tip and the seam for the removable nosecap
