So one of the side effects of having a heart attack and having a stent put in is I am now on blood thinners and will be for the foreseeable future. I currently look like I did 20 rounds with a 300lb Nun armed with a 2x4, only times I bruised in the past was broken bones or several boxes of 3" mags while wearing a tshirt.

Anywho, I am looking at going hunting sooner and would like to find a good pair of cut proof gloves that will work for dressing and processing game. I ordered a couple pair of the thick gloves knit like gloves but was hoping to find something thinner/grippier.

I normally am very careful but after seeing the bruises caused by minor knock I would rather not have my buddies doing field exp cauterizing at 3AM while covered in pig goo

Just regular bow hunting type is good for scrapes brairs.
I will tell you to get a bunch of bandaids in your wallet, truck, 4 wheeler ! Have em everywhere !
One thorn in my arm and blood ruins like I need stiches. It's a total pita. Let the grass catcher lid hit my arm and purple spots appear. If I scratch my forehead you'd think an ax murderer got after me .... Smile

A little late with this, but another issue if you are recently being on blood thinners.

Did your doctor advise you about alcohol ? If you don't drink, then ignore my posting, but if you do, please check. It can be fatal to drink over a certain amount while on blood thinners.

The doctors didn't tell me that, but a vascular nurse said 2 beers is the limit, or a similar amount of any other alcoholic drink .

Her advice was based on internal bleeding occuring from your stomach lining due to the alcohol.

I have been on Plavix since 2009. I know all about bleeding all over everything from a briar scratch.

Any advice to protect forearms as well, particularly when doing yard work etc. ?

Far and away the nicest fitting and most comfortable gloves I've ever owned. Tig welding requires good dexterity and protection and these do it.

Here...

I wish I could give you advice on that. Blood thinners also make you bruise much easier, and those bruises can tear, and bleed. Long sleeves of course, and avoid jagged edged objects. My pets/dog's claws can become like saws to me.

Thanks. Tegaderm works for the skin tears, but I find the only people who can put those on properly are ER nurses. My dermatologist had trouble putting on Tegaderm patches, but I did get a free supply of about ten. I have been using QuickClot some. I wear a flannel long sleeve jacket in the yard and find I still get bruises, although the tears are less frequent.

Most sporting goods stores that having fishing equipment will carry knife proof (resistant) gloves. I picked up a pair at Bass Pro years ago and they work well.

I learned to cut and managed a dept back when wearing a glove was a sign of weakness and not having any skill,

got the scars to prove it,

since I have been out of the meat dept many many years, and out of the grocery business a few, I am not up to current tech, but all cutters are now required to wear a glove,

I wore, when I had to , a metal glove

the kevlar/cut resistant gloves have come a long way as far as flexibility since I first tried one,

this was our supplier
