| Hoppin john, turnip greens, and hoe cakes. Hoe cakes are just cornmeal mixed with hot water, salt, and some cayenne pepper into a thinnish batter. They're fried like pancakes in bacon grease or whatever.

| In the past we usually did a seafood feast. This year we're having a bone-in ham with baked beans and potato salad. Simple but yummy. Jim

That right there! Although we also have some skillet fried corn with plenty of salted butter. |

| Been snacking on homemade meatballs off and on all day watching football. At noon, the St. Louis style ribs went on the BGE at 235F. Should be eating between 1.5 to 2.25 hours. Need to get off my backside and cook up a batch of cast iron cornbread.

| Pork lion and sauerkraut, of course. I put bacon, diced onions and apples in my kraut, too. Baked in the cast iron Dutch oven. Served with mashed taters and gravy. Oh yum.

| I made a homemade batch of sauerkraut after the sauerkraut fermenting thread on sigforum this fall. I had my homemade sauerkraut and pork sausage yesterday. Turned out pretty good!
I have a few SIGs.

| Al dente bowtie pasta, black eyed peas [coins], baby spinach [folding paper money] with thinly sliced onion and crushed garlic, a pinch of red pepper flakes, cooked in chicken broth, topped with shredded Italian 3-cheese blend. We’ve had it for over 15 years and it seems to work reasonably well for good fortune for us, with an occasional setback as would be expected. Will be doing kraut and pork later, along with a Cajun 15-bean soup using some leftovers and bone from a honey-baked ham.
