He hosted a game show back in the 70s and one time they were giving away a car and Vin was showing it’s features, opened the trunk and his eyes widened with a WOW look on his face. It seems the stage crew put a naked girl in the trunk.

I grew up in L.A. and it's sad to hear about Vin passing. It really brings back great memories of hearing him, and Jerry Doggett, when I was in high school. Lying in bed before I went to sleep and listening to him call the games with Koufax or Drysdale pitching, along with Maury Wills stealing bases was as good as it gets! Way better than watching on TV, which we didn’t even have back then. Saw lots of games at the Coliseum and later Chavez Ravine, and always listened to Vinny on my transistor while I was watching the game. He did well, making it to 94. As far as announcers go, he's the GOAT.

I could have written ^^this^^ myself.

We lived in Fullerton. In their first year, during spring training, the new LA Angels did a split squad training game at Amerige Park. I was there with 4-5 buddys. WE got to toss the ball with them and I sat next to Bill Rigney in the dudout. I was 11 I think

Cool, we moved from LA to OC and ended up in La Habra. Went to Fullerton JC before going to Long Beach State. Played in Amerige Park when we were in the CIF playoffs.

He had some thoughts on socialism as well. Good 20 second clip.

I remember hearing that clip. I don't think anyone but Vin Scully could've gotten away with that commentary during a game. I really think it was just a human moment for him, where he innocently drifted away from the game for a moment and into his convictions.

Vinny also said, back in 2017, he would never watch another NFL game in response to player protests during the national anthem.

In his words: "I have only one personal thought, really. And I am so disappointed. I used to love, during the fall and winter, to watch the NFL on Sunday. And it's not that I'm some great patriot. I was in the Navy for a year. Didn't go anywhere. Didn't do anything. But I have overwhelming respect and admiration for anyone who puts on a uniform and goes to war. So the only thing I can do in my little way is not to preach. I will never watch another NFL game."
