I'm on my phone, so I can't embed. A brief search for the word "deer" yielded nothing.

He thinks the bullet actually missed the deer but the vacuum wake sucked the eyeballs right of the deer's noggin? Where's the "not sure if serious" meme?

As do several of the commenters, I think he punched in and out both eyes with a non-expanding round (Hornady A-Max, a target bullet with a polymer tip). He even said he was aiming for a head-shot, but thinks he missed. I think he didn't.

He claims they cut into the head. I don't think that round is going through the eyes that cleanly at all. In some of the slow motion, zoomed in shots, I think you can see him miss high left. Maybe even over the snout. FWIW, I have heard claims that a round of that size could theoretically push that kind of pressure.

That video shows the lack of near-miss damage.

Correct - figured that part out from some comments. I should have been more specific.

The deer died quickly, I’m not sure what’s sick about it. I’ve been following him for some time and he’s not killing just to kill, he will harvest the meat so it’s not wasted. I don’t know anyone that eats the head so shooting it there is no loss of good meat. It would be no different if he shot one in the head with a 308 Win.

Still a bad practice and frowned upon by many deer hunters. Miss by an inch or so, blow the lower jaw off, and deer slowly starves to death.

The deer definitely died so he definitely hit it - it’s the only way to transfer the energy necessary to kill it cleanly. Through the eyes makes the most sense given the blood in its nose and mouth.

So...no head shots? Regardless of caliber?

Guess I've been doing it wrong and have been frowned upon all these years.

Not buying that "wake" theory. I have worked in the range pits where 50 BMG rounds were going over head. You hear a supersonic "crack" as it goes past, but there was never any "wake" effect that I can recall.

He hit the deer with the round. Through both eyes? seems like the only possibility, at least to me.

Yeah, me too!

Have taken several with head shots. It saves meat!

A stupid individual.

It's funny I was just reading a thread elsewhere about this same thing, deer with a 50BMG and of the 4 or 5 who said they'd done it, all but one said the same thing, they were really unimpressed with how it performed, a couple very much so, having the deer run several hundred yards. Those big heavy pointed bullets don't expand and just make a small temporary hole.

The old fatal "eyes fell out"! Kills you instantly. Roll Eyes
If it sucked the eyes out genius, where the fuck are they? Sucked them out and made them vanish?

Judging by the fact that the eyes are gone, and the large amounts of ejecta we see coming from the deers nose, it pretty obviously went on one eye and out the other.

I can only hope he's not really this dumb, and posted it this way to cause contraversy and get hits.

I didnt watch the video but one day my father shot at a deer and it dropped. He went down and cut the deer's throat to make sure things were finished. 10 minutes later we're cleaning the deer and can find no wounds other than a slight skinned spot on top of the skull. He had been aiming at the neck and missed badly and had evidently knocked ths deer unconscious with a grazing shot to the head.
