Numbering is to align with the year for which it is intended to be used most (or something like that). So, released now and will be used for Q4 2026, but also Q1, Q2 and Q3 for 2027.

iOS 26.6.1 is working fine for me. Installed two days ago.

As a general tule, I don’t update software that end in .0 so I will wait a week or 2.

The bigger question is, how long until they release 27.1 to fix all the crap they didn’t get right with the first try?

Updated to 26.6.2 2 days ago, no problems.

Updates shows a version 26.7 available but I'm going to wait a couple of weeks to update to it.

This is the first I've heard of version 27.

^^^ 26.6.2 is a very minor update without any security fixes. I did it a couple of days ago, also.

26.7, just released today, supposedly has a lot of security fixes that share with 27 but without the extra non-security features, from my understanding. So, I went ahead and updated to 26.7 just a couple of hours ago. Updating to 27 is not necessary, in terms of security fixes.

If the whole world knows that these releases can brick or cause serious issues for your phone, then who actually updates?

I’ve been on the beta for a few weeks. No major issues with the base apps. Re-indexing will chew battery life the first few days then back to normal battery life. Widgets on CarPlay is nice for some apps.

I've been running iOS 27 since the Beta 3 version released a few months ago. I've had no issues and there are some improvements to the liquid glass feature that I like. I follow the Zollotech YouTube channel to keep up with what's new and any issues.

17 Pro Max, Ultra Watch 2, M2 11” iPad Pro (2022) updated so far. No issues, and (unsurprisingly) no bricks, just like every other time I’ve updated.

M4 13” iPad Pro (2024) and iPad Mini 7 later today.

Tried the Siri AI “speech to shortcut” feature and it worked perfectly for a simple shortcut. I’d use shortcuts more, but always seem to have issues creating my own. This will help.

In a week or so I’ll update my wife’s iStuff

iPhone 16 Pro = no issues
iPad Air 4 = big performance improvement, and the ability to always show the top menu ala MacOS is great
M2 Pro Mac Mini = no issues
TV 4K 2nd gen = no issues

TV 4K 1st gen = not supported Frown
Watch Series 7 = not supported Frown

Now if I had to pick 2 devices to drop upgrade support, the TV 4K (kitchen) and Watch are definitely the two I’d select.

Looks like the iPad Air 4 loses upgrade to OS 28 next fall…

My Mac Pro battery life is diminished but it's 6-years old and the memory is maxed so probably time for a new system for me. Holding off because $2K+ for a laptop is crazy!
