I imagine the only difference is that the custom trays are molded close to your teeth which would require less peroxide gel. The home trays may have looser tolerance, even a mm or two might require twice as much gel to get contact to your teeth. Eventually, you'll spend more money due to using more of the gel, but the initial cost will be a lot less with the home kit trays. First In Last Out | |||

Too clever by half |
Wife gave both my daughter and I a kit last Christmas, peroxide based. Made my teeth a little sensitive, but I got chemical burns on my gums along the gum line towards the end of the 1 week of use.
