Portable Oxygen Concentrator: Please Help Me Qualify One.
I'm kind of in between a rock and a hard place. My resting oxygen saturation is in the mid 90's but plummets when I start moving around with mild exertion. My pulmonologist said that my insurance doesn't kick in with supplemental oxygen assistance until my resting sats are below 88. It looks like Im gonna have to do something on my own for now in regards to a portable oxygen concentrator.

I turn now to our forum's brain trust for help in qualifying a good, reliable portable concentrator that does the job but doesn't break the bank. Thanks.

What qualifies as “breaking the bank”?

When my Dad was put on oxygen, I looked into them and ones with good reviews were in the $2000-$2500 ballpark.

He was able to qualify for coverage under Medicare/Tricare for rental which was a total scam because what the place charges for rental would pay for a new machine every five-six months.

What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

Another option is to get an overnight oximetry done to see if you qualify for O2 when you sleep. If you do, then it’s easy for your Doc to walk you and qualify for exertion. The same co you have for a home concentrator would then supply the portable. They may try to get you to use small tanks. They are a PIA.
