I built them high so that the car doors could be opened under them.
The ceilings are 9.5’ which helps.
I also built closets at the rear on each side to house lawn care equipment on the left, and car care on the right.
I’ll admit that I like a fairly clean garage and always wanted one that looked more like an interior room that someone installed a garage door into.
Maybe I’m a little weird.
I'm a little jealous. Very nice garage

1s1kLooks fantastic grumpy. I like a clean garage also. I’m not a junk collector at all so that helps. My workbench gets a little chaotic once in a while and that even drives me nuts.

Maybe if it was air conditioned, but I don’t hang out out there much.
My shop is through the double doors at the back and that’s where I spend a lot of time.
The TV & sound system are discards from upgrading the living room setup.
Couldn’t think of any other place and now while I’m waxing the cars or servicing the Harley I can watch something or listen to music.
I do have some material on a roll to upholster the bench & chairs if I can ever get around to it.
As for storage of bikes I realized if I’d made the cabinets a couple inches deeper I could have hung my wife’s bike under them.
But she gave it away when we added the spinning bike to our gym.
But still it’s a thought.

parallelThat vertical space can be a real asset. I also have racks that hang from the ceiling like tatortodd except I have four of them and they're mounted above the garage door rails. Somehow I can't seem to find a photo of those but there has to be one somewhere. Anyway, you can see a small part of one of them on the left edge of this photo.
Also... a shout out to Seville Classics for their work bench, upper cabinets, and (not pictured) a large (36" x 72") wheeled storage cabinet. They came from Sam's Club and I really like them. So much so that I'm looking to buy another work bench and a set of three uppers to replace the crappy black painted wood upper cabinets. These things are extremely well designed and easy to assemble.
