So last night CA state legislators passed a so called "extension" of the state's cap-n-trade bill - ie, carbon tax. The "extension" required 2/3 vote. Problem is, if I am understanding it correctly, an extension only requires 50% vote where a raise of taxes requires 2/3.

The politicians and moonbeam passed it off as an extension. Nice bait and switch.

So these new taxes are expected to touch the consumer for an average of $700 per year.

This is addition to the new gas tax which the same turd squirters just passed and forecasted to cost residence $600 - $700 per year ($1,200 - $1,400 per year, per car driver).

AND they want to increase another tax ($200+ when buying a home or per unit when buying an apartment building, plus an additional tax when building a new home)for the homeless problem.

Welcome to the world of democrats, coming to a city/state near you - if you allow it.

Unfortunately, I cannot say I am surprised by this.

Kalifornistan is the living example of insane socialism at work.

Under Moonbeam, Kali has run up a 2 trillion dollar debt, and that debt continues to grow. All those giveaway programs have to be paid. At least paid someday.

What happened to the Calexit idea, anyway?

The people in Kali should simply draw a line around the very limited area controlled by democraps, and secede.

Leaving the socialist nightmares to those who voted for them.

Call themselves North California. Not unlike NC, ND, etc.

The Cap N Trade extension needed 2/3rds majority, and even though the Demorats had barely that, several of them were not going to be part of the final vote, thus they needed a few Republicans on their side to pass.

They got more than a couple, they got eight of 'em, now nicknamed "The Crazy 8". This margin allowed a few Demorats in rural districts with tight races to vote no.

All of this to fund the over budget high speed rail system and to fulfill pension confers.

CA politics is as corrupt as it gets. I absolutely hate it here.

Creating a new state as part of an old state requires:

1. A vote of the residents of the proposed new state to form one.
2. A vote by the residents of the old state to allow it.
3. A vote by Congress to approve it.

They might get #1 but I wouldn't give any odds on getting #s 2 and 3.

From today's San Jose Mercury News:

quote:
Two Bay Area counties sue 37 fossil fuel companies over sea-rise...

Two Bay Area counties sued 37 oil, gas and coal companies Monday asserting the companies knew their fossil fuel products would cause sea level rise and coastal flooding but failed to reduce their greenhouse gas pollution.

The lawsuit was part of a coordinated litigation attack by Marin, San Mateo County and the city of Imperial Beach.

The lawsuit, filed in Marin County Superior Court, alleges that “major corporate members of the fossil fuel industry, have known for nearly a half century that unrestricted production and use of their fossil fuel products create greenhouse gas pollution that warms the planet and changes our climate.”...

I wonder, can the people of CA really be that bizarre, inept, and deluded? The answer is clearly yes.

Wait till they need to show the valid scientific proof about climate change resulting from fossil fuel.

The Ninth make accept "Well your honor, it's common knowledge and everyone knows it, don't you watch CNN?"

"Oh very well, please continue."

Then SCOTUS gets it and after they stop laughing will realize the Ninth actually accepted that argument as science.

F libtard democRAT aholes. A car depreciates, but the annual registration fee goes up. And the sheep are too F stupid to realize any of this.

They voted at least twice to let thousands of shitheads out of jail/prison and reduced many felonies to misdemeanors. CA is a total shithole. Tourists, watch out.

They'd have better luck at CalExit, as would Red State America really go to war again (War of Seccession-Part Deux) to keep California in a Union that they no longer wish to be a part of.

I've been a California resident since high school and I watched it slowly descend into madness until it has become a lost cause. This is the state that allows illegal aliens to get drivers licenses and other benefits.
If you take away LA and the San Francisco Bay Area the other parts of the state are not unlike the rest of the country. Unfortunately, most of the political power rests in the LA/Bay Area and that's why politicians like Kamala Harris get elected. BTW, Kamala may be the 2020 Democratic nominee

Marin County? Oh the irony. How many Marin County residents have enjoyed cheap hydrocarbons to drive their BMWs, Mercedes, AMG, Porsches, Land Rovers, and other gas guzzlers?

I'd guess the Marin County residents consume more fuel than some schlep from Stockton.
