I’m sure there will be a withdrawal period. But I lived w/o it until I was an adult. I still remember 1200 baud modems, had a Commodore 64 when I was a kid.
If the town job is still a thing, I suppose we will have to dust off the dominoes come break time and lunch.
Otherwise, I’ll catch up on stuff around the house and try to get used to doing things manually again.
If the internet goes, I would expect utilities to be not dr behind. I’d at least prepare for that eventuality.

this,

dad had a computer in his shop that a friend built him, we used the dial up Earthlink or whatever it was called but had no clue what the internet was or how to use it,

we had computers at work in the grocery biz, but only the intra not inter, net, so limited access to limited data that was store or company specific,

got my first desk top, as a late bloomer, in 2004, simply to help me find another job, which was not needed actually, since I had a good rep and some connnections,

now, I sell a shitton in my new (no longer gro biz) life ,online, and use the net every day,

however, if the SHTF or the Butlerian Jihad, I still have a stack of playboys to get by with,,,,

Do cable TV or satellite TV have anything to do with the internet?
Would the be affected at all?

Depends on how far reaching the outage is. Would I simply not be able to access SF, AccuWeather, and other resources? Would there be a cascading effect that set back food, fuel, etc? Would it cause the grid to go down for a length of time?

Humans are panicky animals and interruptions of the above for more than a few days might be enough to touch off localized or even widespread mayhem. Obviously, having recently cleaned my rifles, the family is well prepared to defend the property from a small inept expeditionary force of rabble Big Grin

If the only ramification of losing the internet was losing the internet, we’d all get by. To me, the greatest danger is what shenanigans our own government would get up to now that we had a far more limited ability to stay in contact and spread the word. The powers that be are not to be trusted in an information blackout… or any other time for that matter.

Yes. Cable and satellite tv are both managed by "internet" connectivity.
Subscriber authentication, billing, management of the various companies infrastructure, as they are "customers and vendors" in the supply chain, and almost all business and commerce rely on internet for almost all financial needs.

The percentage of businesses that have subscription to "cloud" computing for most aspects of their business, such as financial/bookkeeping apps, business line apps, and productivity apps (like Office), telephony and more.

Gas stations, grocery, all manner of mercantile, services are lifted by internet.

A great number of things that used to be done physically and on location are now outsourced and controlled and managed over the internet.

Cellular communications require a great deal of land based/fiber connectivity to stand up and operate. The towers are "hand off" systems that pretty much manage the phone to tower/tower to phone for each cell.

A lot of these things can be "reversed" or "restored to previous" methods and procedures, but it will not be an instant nor simple thing to do.

So, yeah, if the internet were to take a serious (s)hit on reliability and availability, your gonna need a bigger paddle for that canoe.

If you think "store mobbing", "street riots" and the likes is interesting in good times...

There's a whole lot of wild tracks the SHTF train runs on, but every one of them leads to same destination of people showing how desperate they can get and how far they will descend.

And the level headed folk, cannot control the crazy the masses will exhibit, but you can control your own mental state and be prepared and able to deal with whatever comes to your best abilities.

This won't be the first, nor last time mankind is tested.

Cataclysmic event is a sliding scale reality that can impact one or all without notice nor limit.
It's not "doom and gloom", it's just a fact of existing in the universe.
