My truck is a 2011 Silverado. It did not have a back up camera.

Bought a Garmin "Drive Smart 65 & Traffic" nav system.

display mounts on wind shield w a suction cup. Power from cig lighter port.

Then bought a Garmin "BC 40 Wireless Backup Camera". Mounts to rear license plate.

Went thru some simple steps to have the two units pair up. (wireless)

Might be better / cheaper ways to do it, but this worked for me.

If you try the Garmin approach, be careful because the Garmin back up cameras only "pair up" to some of the Garmin nav systems

Verbally saying "show display" or "hide display" has the the Nav display switch back and forth between back up cam and Nav display

I wanted a b/u/ cam for the le saber,

I looked at the one Costco has on sale
but is solar powered camera,
since my car in in the garage 17 hours a day
I had my doubts about it getting and holding a charge for the camera.

I don't need the Nav function

Backup Cams are EXTREMELY useful! Nice to see they aren't too difficult to add on older vehicles. Your screen looks to have better width and resolution than lots of factory cams I've seen. Nice addition.

Remember, this is all supposed to be for fun...................

The camera is powered by two AA batteries.

Garmin recommends using Lithium AA batteries. Had to order them.

Good job. The backup camera is probably the single most useful driver assist feature ever.

I wouldn't own a car or truck without it. The factory camera on my Sorento shows the the top of my trailer ball, making it a piece of cake hitching up the trailer. Very handy device indeed.
